Most people who live in the United States are disgusted by the idea of slave labor. But we also aren't all that surprised when we find out is is happening, right now, in the USA, and with the government's endorsement. The permit is below.

That small line, "except as punishment for a crime," is the heart of the Amendment. It allowed slavery to proceed for another two centuries under updated requirements. Most importantly, it had to remain behind the prison wall, out of sight.


And it produces $2 Billion worth of goods every year in the USA. I


I worked as an underpaid laborer for the prison system for years (more than 3 years total). I did everything from running the kitchen to running a chainsaw. I never earned more than $25 per month.
